Biography

Dr Malsiah joins  Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, UTM as a lecturer in the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Built Environment. Prior to coming to UTM, she was a graduate architect at Akibina Chartered Architects and ALMA Architects in Johor Bahru.

Dr Malsiah  received her B.Arch.  from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 1988. She took 4 years break from work to accompany her husband to Sheffield. While in Sheffield, Dr Malsiah is a member of Vernacular Architecture Research Group, University of Sheffield and actively involved in the Overseas Wives Club of University of Sheffield.

Dr Malsiah received her M Arch. and Ph.D. from  Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2002 and 2011 respectively. Dr Malsiah’s teaching interests include tropical architecture, green & sustainable architecture and passive design. Her primary research interest is in green, environmental and energy in buildings design. Currently Dr Malsiah is teaching B Sc Arch Year 2 Design Studio as well as a member of  M Arch Environmental Design Thesis Panel. Dr Malsiah also supervised M Arch and PhD research students.

Dr Malsiah resides with her family in Skudai, Johor. In her free time, she loves to travel to explores and experience the local culture as well as to explore the unique buildings and public spaces.
