Two (2) groups of Third Year Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning students, Faculty of Built Environment, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, won the First and Second prize in the final competition, “Problem Analysis of Habitat Scenario 2014” organised by the Ministry of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government.  The competition was held at the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development on 4th December 2014 in conjunction with “World Habitat Day 2014” with the theme ‘Social Urbanism’.

This yearly event saw participation in three (3) categories, Lower Secondary, Upper Secondary and Public Institutions of Higher Learning (IPTA).  Eighty seven (87) groups from all IPTA in Malaysia took part in the competition and only three (3) groups from the IPTA category was selected to proceed to the final round, two (2) groups from UTM and 1 group from UiTM.

The winner of the first prize with the scenario title ‘Effect of Urban Migration’ received a cheque of RM5,000.00 and certificate and the second prize winner with the title ‘Urban Poverty’ received a cheque of RM3,000.00 and certificate. Winners of the competition received their prizes from YBhg. Datuk Yong Bun Fou, the Deputy Secretary General (Policy and Development), Ministry of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government.
